Hawaii Okinawa Parade on Kalakaua Avenue

The Hawaii Okinawa Festival on Oahu was lots of fun and sun. We ate a lot of andagi, maki sushi, Okinawa soba, anda dog (a new version of a corn dog using andagi mix) and champuru. I think it was a eating festival more than anything else. Also learned that if you stick andagi on a chop stick and eat it, your fingers don't get greasy. Always learning something new from people you meet.

There was a lot of dancers and musicians from all over Hawaii and Okinawa at  the events. Lots of young dancers...I mean young as in 5 years old. Check out the movie clip of the dancers if you get a chance. Sorry the quality is not good and I was way in the back as it was packed with people.

It was nice to spend quality time with my Hawaii family and renew our culture and traditions with our children. I think they had fun eating the shaved ice. It was a balmy 90 degrees out there this weekend, but the shade was a cool 85 with breezes from Waikiki Beach.

If you are interested in going next year, the event will be August 30 & 31, 2008. Mark your calendar. Hopefully Hawaiian Vacations will have another great fare for us to go down on. See you then. Mahalo nui loa!
